some put up a lot of money to hide this girl for months while edwards was claiming in was all untrue, a definite conspiracy here

Bob N- I like the point....these politicians believe there are 2 lives...the one they campaign for...and the one they will live...all other Americans should follow the rules..except them..

its not the affair, its the lying, follow the money, there is more to come, a real odor on this one

Phyllis brings up a good point. Even if you don't care about infidelity...what are the other effects of clandestine behavior, how it will affect a politician's job, vote, and positions...

I personally don't care about Edwards affair. What I do care about is what has happened to our values. Do we just toss this out without comment or do we speak out about the moral, ethical issues that this behavior incures? Smiling and looking the other way is what we have done in the past. Can a public person be entitled to a clandestine life as well as a private life? Does a secret love affair compromise his effectiveness as a senator? Can he balckmailed? In the long run will hurt our nation? These are the things to think about.

Last week, we found out that Florida Congressman Wexler, doesn't even live in the state of Florida.

This week, we find out (late Friday afternoon because it is a slow time for news) that John Edwards has been lying to his family, his wife, and the American people. The slick lawyer with $400 haircuts and the champion of the "people" turns out to be a real jerk-off. His campaign stump speech, included his thoughts about "Two Americas". The one he lives in, and the one he panders to, lies to, and looks down on. I am sick and tired of these phony bastards!

The Democrats want to raise the taxes of the rich....these guys are all rich pricks....and campaign to raise taxes on "rich" people to rally the votes of middle class America. It is the politics of division and does not move the ball forward.

Don't get me wrong, the Republicans are no better and probably worse.

This nation has serious challenges ahead. We need serious people to find common interests and build a consensus, instead of the lying, cheating, thieves that represent the people of this great nation!

How about the politicians in New Orleans that have asked the Federal Government for $250 BILLION....Do you have any idea how much money that is? It's about $250k for every resident in NOLA

Alright....Edwards has come clean about Affair....and now that it's real here is what I have to say:

1)Yes, the Hypocrisy should be addressed...Had the National Inquirer not reported the affair, Edwards may have never had to come clean.

2)How dare this holier than though guy....flaunt his wife in front of everyone and show that he is the supportive husband of a cancer victim all the while cheating on her.

3) If a spouse can't trust ya, why should the country...

Yes, I flipped a bit...but now that it is real, it shows that addressing the hypocrisy pays off at getting to the truth and shows the character behind the politician... especially the ones that try to legislate values like Edwards or Spitzer yet don't hold themselves to the same standards....

True there is definitely a double standard and media bias. that being said, Public figures are just that "public" and their private lives go to speak for character. If one would betray the marriage covenant, what makes anyone think they won't betray their office?

A better comparison would be when the media jumped all over McCain in the 04 election for his alleged love child which was a complete farse. So comparing it to McCain, yes Edwards is getting a pass. Comparing it to a politician who can't help himself and had to get his rocks off in the bathroom...now that is ridiculous.

George S says: Posted: 7/24/2008 1:42 PM EST

Uhhh..., I'm no fan of Edwards and there certainly is a Liberal media protecting their own thing going on here.... but come on these 2 cases are completely different

Craig was arrested. Edwards was not.
Craig was "obviously" guilty. Edwards was running from the National Inquirer which is hardly a bastian of integrity.
Craig was in a bathroom stall. Edwards was in a hotel.

Yes that last part is a judgement, but it shows how debase Craig was. Do you really think that the media or society gives a crap about infidelity anymore? When Clinton was getting a hummer in the whitehouse they all said "good for him." But having sex in the bathroom is a whole other level. It is unhealthy, disturbing the peace, and public lewd behavior....

George S says: Posted: 7/24/2008 1:41 PM EST

In this article, the writer calls for the same treatment of John Edwards alleged affair and love child to that of Senator Craig's airport bathroom sex romp...........................
